<p>This invention relates to a solid particulate substrate for use in the vulcanization of rubber and a process for the production thereof. The solid particulate substrate is coated with a coating containing a complexed acetometallate salt of sodium and a transition metal. The use of the solid particulate substrate in the vulcanization of rubber reduces the amount of transition metal oxide used in the vulcanization process.</p>
