System for and method of managing network resources

A system for and method of determining how to process a request for allocation network resource (whether to accept, deny or forward) is presented. The method may include receiving a request for allocating network resources from a user device. The method may also include determining, via at least one computer processor, whether to accept or deny the resource allocation request based at least in part on a classification of at least one of network elements and communication links, wherein the at least one network elements and communication links is identified based on the resource allocation request. The method may further include providing the determination of whether to accept or deny the resource allocation request to the user device. The system may utilize a dynamic set of policy, customized according to the current network status, to optimize the performance of processing the resource allocation request.

1. A method for managing resources of a network, the network comprising a plurality of network devices, the method comprising:
receiving, at a network resource management agent, a resource allocation request sent from a first network device of the plurality of network devices, the request being for allocating network resources; locally determining at the first network device of the plurality of network devices, via at least one computer processor on the network resource management agent, whether to accept or deny the resource allocation request sent from the first network device based at least in part on a dynamic set of policy rules and on a classification of at least one of network elements and communication links, wherein the at least one network elements and communication links is identified based on the resource allocation request; and providing a determination, by the network resource management agent, of whether to accept or deny the resource allocation request to the first network device of the plurality of network devices, wherein the first network device of the plurality of network devices comprises the network resource management agent, and wherein the resource allocation request is a request for resources provided by a server remote from the first network device.
