A method for transmitting and receiving uplink signals using an optimized rank 3 codebook is disclosed. The optimized rank 3 codebook includes 6 precoding matrix groups, each of which has 1 variable having an amplitude of 1. Preferably, the optimized 4Tx rank 3 codebook has 12 precoding matrix, two precoding matrixes are selected from each the above 6 precoding matrix groups considering chordal distance and the number of precoding matrix. |

1. A method for controlling a user equipment (UE) to transmit uplink signals via four antennas, the method comprising:
mapping the uplink signals to a plurality of layers; performing Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) spreading upon each of the mapped uplink signals to create a plurality of DFT-spread signals; precoding the plurality of DFT-spread signals using a specific precoding matrix selected from a codebook to create precoded signals; generating a Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) symbol based on the precoded signals; and transmitting the SC-FDMA symbol to a base station (BS) via the four antennas, wherein the codebook consists of precoding matrix groups of[100X00010001],[100010X00001],[100010001X00],[010100X00001],[010100001X00],and[010001100X00], wherein X is a variable. |
