The present invention relates to a lane departure warning system and a method thereof and, more specifically, to a lane departure warning system and a method thereof capable of quickly warning lane departure without an error by dividing the images of the front of a driving road into a plurality of sections, and acquiring a lane from the divided images. To achieve this, the present invention comprises: a camera taking an image of the front of the driving road; an image processing unit converting an analog signal into a digital signal after signal-processing the image taken by the camera; and a control unit converting the image obtained by the image processing unit into a binary image, dividing the binary image into a plurality of interested sections, deleting a lane candidate having a different slope by establishing a linear equation of the lane candidate extracted from the image of the divided sections, determining whether or not the vehicle departs from the lane based on the acquired linear equation by interconnecting straight lines of the lane candidates with the same slope, and controlling to alert a driver of the lane departure. |
