PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airtight terminal in which an insulation glass is prevented from cracking, by chemically strengthening the free surface of the insulation glass of the airtight terminal.SOLUTION: An airtight terminal 10 includes a metal outer ring 11, a lead-out lead 12 inserted into the metal outer ring 11, and an insulation glass 13 containing an alkaline metal for sealing the inner wall of the metal outer ring 11 and the lead-out lead 12 airtightly. The insulation glass 13 has a compressive stress layer 14 by chemical strengthening on the free surface, and is composed of chemically strengthened glass where at least one of lithium ion and sodium ion is partially exchanged with an alkaline metal ion having a larger radius.
