PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set control information of a unit included in an image forming apparatus by using a server.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a unit configuring the image forming apparatus; an image formation transmitting section for transmitting information to a server communicatively connected to the image forming apparatus; an image formation receiving section for receiving information from the server; and a control section for controlling the unit on the basis of control information for the unit. The control section has functions to transmit a characteristic value of the unit to the server holding the control information of the unit for every unit characteristic value corresponding to each of at least one or more individuals of the unit configuring the image forming apparatus via the image formation transmitting section and to receive the control information returned from the server on the basis of the characteristic value transmitted to the server via the image formation receiving section. As a result, holding of the control information is not required in the unit, and manual labor and time and setting mistakes are reduced as much as possible.
