PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ligand compound which makes it possible to form a metal complex that enables production of a high molecular weight body of α-olefin and also enables production of copolymerization of α-olefin and acrylic acid ester, a polyolefin polymerization catalyst thereby and an α-olefin polymerization method using the same.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a ligand compound represented by formula (1), and a polymerization method comprising a transition metal complex as a catalyst component using the same.
