PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane light source device with high in-plane uniformity of brightness, and a transmission type display device.SOLUTION: A plane light source device 10 includes a light guide plate 13, and a light source part 12 projecting light to an input light surface 13a. The light source part 12 has a plurality of point light sources 121 arrayed along the input light surface 13a. With a distance between light emitting parts 121a of the point light sources 121 defined as D, and a dimension in the array direction of the point light sources 121 between the end parts of the light emitting parts 121a of the point light sources 121 positioned at both end parts of the arrayed point light source 121 and side surfaces 13e, 13f closer to the light emitting parts 121a, the ratio d/D satisfies the following inequation: 0≤d/D≤0.5. |
