PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump water heater having excellent energy saving performance.SOLUTION: A heat pump water heater includes: a hot water storage tank 3 for storing hot water generated by heating in a heat pump cycle 2a; and control means 51 for executing at least a plurality of operation modes. The plurality of operation modes include: a hot water storage operation mode of storing the hot water generated by heating in the heat pump cycle 2a in the hot water storage tank 3; and a hot water filling operation mode of, while generating hot water having a lower temperature by heating in the heat pump cycle 2a compared to the hot water storage operation mode, using the hot water generated by the heating for hot water filling in a bathtub 31. In the hot water filling mode, when a temperature of hot water within the bathtub 31 or a water level within the bathtub 31 is detected, the control means 51 stops filling of hot water in the bathtub 31 and while generating hot water having a lower temperature compared to the hot water storage operation mode by using the heat pump cycle 2a, the control means 51 makes the hot water generated by the heating flow in to the hot water storage tank 3. Thus, the heat pump cycle 2a can be operated with high energy efficiency and energy saving performance can be improved. |
