PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium information registration system and the like which can prevent overdetection and non-detection to accurately perform colony detection and counting thereof.SOLUTION: A hygiene control system S includes a configuration comprising the steps of: (1) determining colony pixels on the basis of the color feature amount of respective pixels constituting a medium image of the media image data that is an imaging of a film type medium 60; (2) performing general colony detection processing on the basis of the determined colony pixels; (3) performing, when the detection condition of the general colony detection processing or the detection result thereof satisfies the predetermined conditions, special colony detection processing different from the general colony detection processing; and (4) registering colony information detected in each detection processing into the database as the medium information.
