<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine and a method for controlling the sewing machine which facilitate positioning in relation to a cloth supply device and allow sewing only when a holding body is normally received from the cloth supply device.SOLUTION: In a sewing machine, two standby positions are provided in relation to a pallet supply mechanism. An operator uses an operation panel of the sewing machine to move and position a pallet holding part at a supply position for a pallet of the pallet supply mechanism. The sewing machine sets the position of the positioned pallet holding part as a first standby position and further sets a second standby position closer to a sewing machine side than the first standby position. After receiving the pallet at the first standby position, the pallet holding part is moved to the second standby position. When the pallet is not normally held by the pallet holding part, the pallet falls off. After the movement to the second standby position, the sewing machine performs sewing only when a pallet sensor detects the pallet.</p> |
