PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress liquid with attached foreign matter near a discharge port from being suctioned into the discharge port after purge operation.SOLUTION: A printer includes a head, an ink supply unit, a capping mechanism, and a control unit. The control unit controls the capping mechanism, a purge pump, and a valve so as to perform discharge port purging operation by setting a discharge space as a first partition state, and controls the purge pump so as to stop the supply of ink from a sub-tank after the end of the discharge port purge operation. In addition, the control unit controls the capping mechanism so as to change the discharge space from the first partition state to a second partition state during the time of the discharge port purge operation. |
