<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation method that can produce 2-hydroxymethyl-2,3-dihydro-thieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin in high yield without performing complicated purification.SOLUTION: Provided is a 2-hydroxymethyl-2,3-dihydro-thieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin preparation method that includes: a step of hydrolysis process in which 3,4-dihydroxy-thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester and halogenated propanol are allowed to react in the presence of a weak base to yield 2-hydroxymethyl-2,3-dihydro-thieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5,7-dicarboxylic acid, or a mixture of dialkyl ester thereof, followed by hydrolyzing the same with a strong base to yield only dicarboxylic acid derivatives; and in succession a step of decarbonating the same in the presence of a copper catalyst to yield 2-hydroxymethyl-2,3-dihydro-thieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin of the formula.</p> |
