PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage movement device capable of notifying proper information about a cause of presently occurring abnormality of a plurality of causes of the abnormality.SOLUTION: A device executes: a reverse step (S21) of supplying a reverse current for moving a carriage to a second direction to a motor while making a light emission part output light in abnormality notification processing executed with that a time in which a second signal cannot be acquired in a process of carriage movement processing has exceeded a threshold value time as a condition; and notification step (S25) of notifying abnormality according to a combination of a first signal and the second signal, and notifying the abnormality of a second sensor unit with that a change amount of the first signal exceeds a threshold value change amount in a process of the reverse step (S21) (S22: Yes) and that the second signal cannot be acquired (S23: No) as a condition. |
