PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission method that can reduce processing of obtaining reference clock information at a reception side.SOLUTION: A transmission method for content transmission using IP (Internet Protocol) packets which is performed through broadcasting contains a generation step (S151) for generating a transmission frame for storing plural second transmission units each of which stores one or more first transmission units in which IP packets are stored, and a transmission step (S152) for transmitting the generated frame. One or more streams each of which is constructed by one or more second transmission units are contained in the frame, and in the generation step (S151), reference clock information representing the time for reproducing a content at the reception side is contained in a first transmission unit located at the head in a second transmission unit at the head of at least one stream contained in the frame.
