PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a case hardening steel material which has low component cost, excellent flexural fatigue strength and pitting resistance, and is suitable as material of a carburized component such as a gear and a shaft for an automobile.SOLUTION: The case hardening steel material contains C:0.10 to 0.24%, Si:0.16 to 0.34%, Mn:0.50 to 0.90%, S:0.005 to 0.050%, Cr:1.66 to 1.98%, Al:0.020 to 0.060%, N:0.0130 to 0.0200%, and the balance Fe with impurities containing P:0.020% or less, Ti:0.005% or less, and O:0.0020% or less. The case hardening steel material satisfies 5.0≤Cr/Si≤12.0 and 1.85≤Cr+Si≤2.14. The case hardening steel material may contain a specific amount of one or more kinds selected from Cu, Ni, Mo, V, and Nb in place of a portion of Fe. |
