PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control operation characteristics of an intake valve at start of an engine in order to appropriately ensure vibration suppression and startability at start of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An engine includes a variable valve gear for changing operation characteristics of an intake valve. The operation characteristics of the intake valve at start of the engine that are specifically lift amount and/or a working angle are controlled in accordance with a state of an electric storage device for storing electric power to operate a motor generator that generates cranking of the engine. When charge and discharge of the electric storage device are in a more restricted state compared to normal cases, the lift amount and/or the working angle of the intake valve becomes small. |
