PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved cam follower.SOLUTION: The cam follower (1) according to the present invention comprises: a tappet (10) having a cylindrical outer face (18) sliding in a housing receiving the cam follower (1); a pin (30) extending along a first axial line (Y1), and having two opposed ends (36, 37) engaged with the tappet (10) to hold the pin (30) to an axial line (X1) in a radial direction and/or an axial line direction; and a roller element (40) that can be operated to rotate to the pin (30) around the axial line (X1). According to the present invention, the cam follower (1) comprises outer inserts (91, 92) arranged on an outer face (18) of the tappet (10) to reduce wear of the outer face (18) of the tappet (10) sliding in the housing. The present invention also relates to an injection pump with the cam follower (1), and a valve actuator. The present invention further relates to a manufacturing method thereof.
