PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system and operation method thereof capable of improving color separation property and visibility of the surface-layer blood vessel in narrow band imaging.SOLUTION: A light source device simultaneously generates purple narrow-band light and green narrow-band light. A complementary color type imaging device of a complementary color type endoscope outputs first to fourth mixed pixel signals. A complementary-color second processing part 42 causes a matrix arithmetic part 46 to execute matrix operations of the first to fourth mixed pixel signals to generate first to second display signals D1 and D2. A mixed color correction part 48 corrects the first and second display signals D1 and D2 on the basis of relational expressions of "D1'=D1-K×D2" and "D2'=D2-K×D1". Where, Krepresents a ratio of a signal value of the second display signal to that of the first display signal when independently applying only the purple narrow-band light thereto, and Krepresents a ratio of the signal value of the first display signal to that of the second display signal when independently applying only the green narrow-band light thereto. |
