摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine for an automobile, for suppressing a reduction in the fuel efficiency while preventing a reduction in the output, when shifting an air-fuel ratio into a power air-fuel ratio by making fuel richer for transition to a high-load and high-rotation region.SOLUTION: In the case of transition to a high-load and high-rotation dangerous combustion mode with step on an accelerator pedal, the temperature of an exhaust system member is actually measured or estimated. If the temperature of the member does not rise to a dangerous temperature but there is a rise margin (allowance), an air-fuel ratio K is held down to an output air-fuel ratio K1, and at a certain time after then, it is shifted into a power air-fuel ratio Km by making fuel richer. Wasteful fuel consumption is suppressed when the temperature of the exhaust system member does not rise to a dangerous region, thus suppressing worse fuel efficiency.</p>
