PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a solid fuel which uses woody biomass containing chlorine compounds as a raw material and reduces the chlorine content.SOLUTION: A solid fuel of a chlorine content of 0.002% or lower is produced by calcining woody biomass under the conditions of an oxygen concentration of 10% or lower and a temperature of the oven of 250-500°C. The solid fuel obtained by the production method is low in chlorine content and high in material yield and heat quantity yield and has crushability comparable with that of coal.
