PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of accurately correcting image deflection or the like due to motion of the imaging apparatus, which is not detected by a sensor, by applying geometrical deformation processing while using information obtained from the sensor, and to provide a control method for the imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: Variation between images is calculated on the basis of a motion vector between images acquired by an imaging device and deflection information concerned with defection in a rotational direction around an axis orthogonal to an optical axis of at least an imaging optical system. Then, the images acquired by the imaging device are geometrically deformed on the basis of a deflection correction amount determined based on the deflection information and the variation. The variation is a deflection component in a direction orthogonal to an optical axis of the imaging apparatus and is calculated after removing at least either one of a change between the images generated by deflection in the rotational direction which is included in the deflection information and a change between the images generated due to influence of an exposure period lag of the imaging device. |
