The invention further relates to a system having such an electric machine and to a method for operating such an electric machine and/or such a system. In order to make the damping of a shaft (3) of an electric machine that vibrates radially during operation more economical and reliable, the electric machine according to the invention has at least one damping unit (6), by means of which at most a damping force having a magnitude that is less than the magnitude of the rotor weight divided by the number n can be applied to the shaft (3) in a radial direction, wherein the at least one damping unit (6) comprises a rotor (7), which is connected to the shaft (3) in a rotationally fixed manner and which has a laminated rotor core, and a stator (8), which has electrical stator windings (9), wherein the rotor laminated core and the stator windings (9) are arranged in such a way and electric current can be supplied to the stator windings (9) in such a way that the vibration of the shaft (3) detected by the at least one sensor (5) can be damped. |
