A composite bearing for a gear-wheel 2 is mounted on a shaft 1 and comprises a roller bearing 4 having, adjacent one or both ends thereof, a plain bearing 5. The function of the roller bearing 4 is to receive the radial load which is applied to teeth 3 of the gear-wheel 2 and the function of each plain bearing 5 is to increase the friction and so reduce vibrations. The roller bearing 4 may be replaced by a ball bearing.</p> |
