An image forming apparatus includes a recording head that discharges a liquid droplet onto a recording medium that is being conveyed; a maintenance part that carries out maintenance and recovery of the recording head; and a battery placed inside an apparatus body of the image forming apparatus and supplying power necessary for operations of the apparatus body. In a plan view of the apparatus body, the battery and the maintenance part are placed on one side and the other side, respectively, in the apparatus body, in a direction crossing a conveyance direction of the recording medium.
