<p>The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the cash to be counted in a scrutiny process. A bill handling apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a bill identification unit, a storage unit, a bill conveyor unit, and a control unit, said storage unit being provided with: a plurality of bill storage containers, consisting of at least one unconfirmed bill storage container that stores bills, the number of which is not yet ascertained, and at least one confirmed bill storage container that stores bills, the number of which has been ascertained; and a bill counting container which receives and temporarily stores bills from the unconfirmed bill storage container during the scrutiny process. The control unit stores received bills in the confirmed bill storage container in the money deposit process, discharges bills from the unconfirmed bill storage container in the money withdrawal process, and sets the unconfirmed bill storage container as a confirmed bill storage container when all the bills stored in the unconfirmed bill storage container have been discharged. In the scrutiny process, the control unit discharges bills only from the unconfirmed bill storage container, temporarily stores these bills in the bill counting container after the bills are identified by the bill identification unit, and then stores the bills in the unconfirmed bill storage container again.</p> |
