PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an 8-forward speed automatic transmission capable of suppressing an increase of a final reduction gear or the like and appropriately setting direct coupling gears and a gear step between shift stages while reducing the size in the axial direction.SOLUTION: An automatic transmission includes: an input shaft 12; an output shaft 13; a first and a second double pinion type gear sets PG1 and PG2; a third and a fourth single pinion type gear sets PG3 and PG4; first to third clutches CL1 to CL3 for disengaging and engaging between predetermined rotary elements of the gear sets; and first and second brakes BR1 and BR2 for disengaging and engaging the predetermined rotary elements of the gear sets with a transmission case 11. When the first to the third clutches are engaged and the first and the second brakes are released, an 8-speed gear is formed whose reduction gear ratio is 1, and the gear sets are arranged in order of the first, the second, the third, and the fourth gear sets from a one-end side in the axial direction. |
