PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position measuring device for guaranteeing a proper function of a clock generator.SOLUTION: A position measuring device 10 includes a position detection unit 20, a processing unit 30, an interface unit 40, and a clock generator 70. The interface unit 40 can transmit an interface signal decided in time characteristics by an interface protocol. The clock generator 70 generates an operation clock signal (CLK) functioning as a time axis for a function of the position detection unit 20 and the processing unit 30. Furthermore, a time measuring unit 80 is provided, and the operation clock signal (CLK) also functions as the time axis in the time measuring unit 80. The interface signal is supplied to the time measuring unit 80, and a time interval (Z) from a start event (START) to a stop event (STOP) of the interface signal can be measured by the time measuring unit 80.
