PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable cycle engine capable of suppressing extension in the engine width direction caused by a camshaft and a mechanism for cam switching and preventing the size in the width direction from increasing.SOLUTION: A camshaft 31 having cams for 4 cycle 86A and 96A and cams for 6 cycle 86B and 96B is arranged in a cylinder head 13. A reduction gear pair (first transfer mechanism) 72 for reducing and transferring a rotation of a crankshaft 21 and a transmission chain mechanism (second transfer mechanism) 73 for transmitting power between the reduction gear pair 72 and the camshaft 31 using a transmission chain 73B are arranged at a side of a cylinder 17, and a speed reduction ratio between the crankshaft 21 and the camshaft 31 is made 1/6 by the reduction gear pair 72 and the transmission chain mechanism 73. A cam switching mechanism is provided at intake-side and exhaust-side rocker arms. |
