<p>An electric machine 20 that includes a stator core 34 having at least one slot 40 and a winding 42 in the slot 40. An elongate cooling conduit 46 defines at least one projecting bend 48 that is positioned in the slot 40. The projecting bend 48 has first and second axially extending legs 50, 52 and an intermediate section 54. Coolant is conveyed through a first axial end opening 39 of the slot within the first leg 50 and then sequentially conveyed through the intermediate section 54 and out the first axial end opening 39 within the second leg 52. The projecting bend 48 is in thermal communication with at least one of the winding 42 and the stator core 34. A method of manufacture is also disclosed and may include bending a conduit 46 having a uniform wall thickness 56 and cross-section to form a plurality of projecting bends 48. The method may also include simultaneously inserting the projecting bends 48 into respective slots 40 from one end of the stator core 34.</p> |
