<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength variable light source and a wavelength variable light source module which are concurrently used as light sources for transmission and reception and are capable of suppressing increase in laser oscillation line width and power consumption.SOLUTION: A wavelength variable light source comprises: an MMI which has an input side and an output side, where one end of each of a plurality of MMI input waveguides 4 is connected to the input side and a plurality of MMI output waveguides 5 are connected to the output side, and which combines light input from the respective MMI input waveguides 4 to output the combined light to the respective MMI output waveguides 5; a plurality of DFB-LDs 1, each of which is connected to the other end of each of the MMI input waveguides 4 and which are capable of performing single mode oscillation with different wavelengths respectively; and two SOAs 22, 23 which are connected to two MMI output waveguides 5 of the respective MMI output waveguides 5 respectively and whose amplification factors are not the same.</p> |
