PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound for treating a subject having age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and a pharmaceutical composition containing the compound.SOLUTION: A nucleic acid vector (AdCAGCD59) comprises a promoter and a gene serving to suppress a membrane attack complex and coding a soluble CD59 protein preventing lysis of a retina cell. In the soluble CD59 protein, a glycosylphosphatidylinositol fixing region is deleted. The promoter is manipulated to include a signal for expressing and secreting the protein from a cell of a subject. A pharmaceutical composition comprises the nucleic acid.
