A driving skill evaluation method that is executed by a computer and involves: a skill evaluation step for evaluating a driver's driving skills on the basis of a value detected of a vehicle state; a component separation step for separating the detected value of the vehicle state into driver operation components that reflect an operation performed by the driver and non-driver operation components that do not reflect the operation performed by the driver; and a skill evaluation correction step for correcting or discarding the evaluation of the driving skills on the basis of the quantity of the driver operation components and/or the quantity of the non-driver operation components.
