Provided is an input apparatus that is provided with an optical waveguide wherein cores are prevented from breaking due to pressing and moving performed by a leading end input section of an input body. The input apparatus is provided with a rectangular sheet-like optical waveguide (W) wherein lattice-like cores (2) are sandwiched between a rectangular sheet-like under cladding layer (1) and a rectangular sheet-like over cladding layer (3). An over cladding layer (3) surface portion corresponding to a lattice-like core (2) portion is set as an input region, a gap (B) between adjacent linear cores (2) of the lattice-like cores (2) is set within a range of 10-300 μm, which is smaller than conventional cases, and an elastic modulus of the cores (2) is set equal to or higher than that of the under cladding layer (1) and that of the over cladding layer (3), thereby preventing, in the input region, breakage of the cores (2) due to pressing and moving performed by means of a leading end input section of an input body. |
