PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphonate compound useful in various industrial applications, in particular a method for using the compound in scale inhibition in aqueous system including marine oil recovery.SOLUTION: There is provided an amino acid phosphonic acid compound represented by the following formula: A-(B)x, where A is an α-amino acid moiety selected from arginine, histidine, iso-leucine, leucine, methionine, threonine and phenylalanine, where B is a C1 to 6 alkyl phosphonic acid moiety, x is an integer of 1 to 6 when the amino acid moiety is arginine, x is 1 to 3 when the amino acid moiety is histidine and x is 2 when the amino acid moiety is selected from leucine, isoleucine, methionine, threonine and phenylalanine. |
