<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to perform appropriate cleaning bias application control even if a distance between recording materials is changed, to prevent stains on the recording material.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier having a toner image carried on a surface; transfer means which comes into contact with a recording material to transfer the toner image on the image carrier to the recording material by applying a predetermined transfer voltage; cleaning bias application means which applies a cleaning bias to the transfer means in order to move the toner sticking on the surface of the transfer means to the image carrier; and contact driving time measurement means which measures driving time of the transfer means in contact with the image carrier without the recording material interposed. The cleaning bias application means applies the cleaning bias according to the time measured by the contact driving time measurement means.</p> |
