PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle electronic key system configured to improve convenience of a vehicle, while improving reliability in an authentication system.SOLUTION: A mechanical key 3 of a vehicle 10 includes an engagement section 3a and a convexo-concave section 3b. The engagement section 3a is shaped to engage with a lock mechanism of a locking device 5. The convexo-concave section 3b is shaped to correspond to setting states of equipment 6-8. An electronic key 2 functioning as a mobile unit includes an insertion section 21 into which the mechanical key 3 is inserted, and a detection section 25 which detects the shapes of the engagement section 3a and the convexo-concave section 3b. The electronic key 2 includes an output section 28 which outputs a first signal based on the shape of the engagement section 3a, and a second signal based on the shape of the convexo-concave section 3b. The vehicle 10 includes a control apparatus 4 which controls a locking/unlocking state of the locking device 5 on the basis of the first signal and controls the setting states of the equipment on the basis of the second signal when the locking device 5 is unlocked.
