Disclosed herein is a refrigerator. In the refrigerator, a water purifying unit including a filter unit to purify water supplied from a water supply source is arranged adjacent to a drawer type storage container in an otherwise useless space of a storage compartment.

1. A refrigerator comprising:
a body defining a first storage compartment and a second storage compartment, each having a left sidewall and a right sidewall, a partition wall provided between the first storage compartment and second storage compartment; a drawer-type storage container provided in the first storage compartment to be pulled out of the first storage compartment; a storage container cover to cover the drawer-type storage container; and a water purifying unit including a case, and a filter unit provided in the case and serving to purify water supplied from a water supply source, wherein the water purifying unit is provided between the storage container and one of the left sidewall and the right sidewall of the first storage compartment, and wherein the water purifying unit is supported in a horizontal direction by one of the left sidewall and the right sidewall and the drawer-type storage container, and supported in a vertical direction by the storage container cover and the partition wall.
