PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specimen analysis method and a specimen analyzer, capable of improving the accuracy of counting red blood cells and crystals included in a specimen.SOLUTION: A sample preparation part mixes a urine specimen with a reagent to prepare a measurement specimen. The measurement specimen prepared by the sample preparation part is made to flow to a flow cell 205. A laser light source 201 irradiates light of linear polarization to the measurement specimen flowing in the flow cell 205. A photomultiplier 215 detects side-scattered light (depolarization side-scattered light) different in a polarized state from that of irradiation light passing through a polarizing filter 214 to be irradiated to the measurement specimen, among side-scattered light generated by irradiating particles in the measurement specimen. An information processing device classifies red blood cells and particles other than the red blood cells included in the measurement specimen on the basis of difference in peak values of depolarization side-scattered light signals (PSSCP).
