Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and an apparatus for efficiently controlling a handover process and an RLF process in a mobile communications system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an operating method of a terminal in a mobile communications system includes the following procedures: monitoring whether a radio link between a source base station and the terminal has a low channel gain determined in advance; detecting a target base station for a handover; and performing a handover process within a time period shorter than a normal time period determined in advance when detecting at least one among the radio link with the low channel gain and the target base station. When a handover and an RLF are generated at the same time in a mobile communications system, the present invention executes the handover instead of re-establishing an RRC connection due to the RLF, thereby minimizing a service interruption period. |
