PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable inhibition of deterioration in color mixture.SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device comprises: a plurality of pixels which are arranged in matrix and each of which has a photoelectric conversion part for photoelectrically converting light incident from a rear face side of a semiconductor substrate; and on-chip lenses each of which has the size larger than the pixel size and which are arranged in every two pixels. A color filter of the pixel having the on-chip lens has a cross sectional shape in which an upper side near the on-chip lens has the same width as the on-chip lens and a lower side near the photoelectric conversion part has a shorter width than that of the upper side. An art in the present disclosure can be applied to a back-illuminated solid state image pickup device and the like, for example.
