1. A gaming system comprising:
a housing; at least one display device supported by the housing; a plurality of input devices supported by the housing, said plurality of input devices including:
(i) an acceptor of a physical item associated with a monetary value,(ii) a validator configured to identify indicia printed on the physical item, and(iii) a receptacle configured to store the physical item, and at least one processor; and at least one memory device which stores a plurality of instructions, which when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with the at least one display device and the plurality of input devices to:
(a) for a play of a first game:
(i) determine a plurality of first game symbols,(ii) display the determined plurality of first game symbols,(iii) determine, based at least in part on at least one of the displayed plurality of first game symbols, any first game award, and(iv) display any determined first game award, and(b) for a play of a second game which occurs at least partially simultaneously with the play of the first game:
(i) determine a plurality of second game symbols,(ii) display the determined plurality of second game symbols,(iii) if a triggering event occurred:
(A) determine, based at least in part on a first evaluation of at least one of the displayed plurality of second game symbols, any second game award, and(B) display any determined second game award, and(iv) if no triggering event occurred:
(A) determine, based at least in part on a second, different evaluation of the at least one of the displayed plurality of second game symbols, any second game award, and(B) display any determined second game award.
