<p>Provided in an embodiment of the present invention is a secondary battery in which electrical short is generated on different polarity by transformation of a can caused by vertical compression impact, so that consumption of current is possible. Disclosed in the present invention for the same is a secondary battery which is characterized by comprising an electrode assembly including a first electrode plate and a second electrode plate; a can storing the electrode assembly, and electrically connected with the first electrode plate; and a can assembly including a cap plate sealing the upper end opening of the can, a terminal plate arranged on the lower part of the cap plate and electrically connected to the second electrode plate, and an insulation plate arranged between the cap plate and the terminal plate, wherein the insulation plate includes a bottom plate, a first and second long side wall surrounding both side long walls of the terminal plate respectively from the edge of the bottom plate, and a first and second short side wall surrounding both side short walls of the terminal plate respectively from the edge of the bottom plate. The first and second long side walls include a cutting area, and the terminal plate contacts with the inner surface of the can through the cutting area when the can is transformed by vertical compression.</p> |
