A peristaltic pump assembly, eg to pump water in a fuel cell system, comprises a compressible conduit 3 along a periphery of a chamber 2 which houses a sun member 4 and a planet member 5. The planet member 5 has a first portion 6 engaged with the sun member 4, and a second portion 7 to engage and constrict a section of the compressible conduit 3, wherein the first portion 6 has a different texture to the second portion 7. The first portion of the planet member 5 may comprise one or two bands 6 of rough texture to engage the sun member 4 and the annulus 11 without slipping. The second, eg central, portion 7 may be smooth to reduce wear of the conduit 3. In a modification, fig.3, the first portion (26) of each of the planet members (25a, 25b) comprises two rings of teeth meshing with gear parts (33, 34) of the sun member (24) while their second portions are smooth. In a further modification, fig.3, each of three cylindrical planet members has a first, gear, portion (46) at one end and a smooth portion (47) at the other end. |
