1,049,268. Injectors. SELAS CORPORATION OF AMERICA. May 21, 1965 [May 22, 1964; June 30, 1964], No. 21566/65. Heading F1E. [Also in Divisions B1 and F4] Liquid is evaporated by introducing it through pipe 32 into an annular chamber 25 from which the liquid passes through slanted openings 29, e.g. three openings spaced 120 degrees apart, into admixture with a stream of hot gases in the converging end of a converging- diverging tubular member 5. The mixture of vapours and concentrated liquor (or dry solid particles) is discharged from member 5 into separator 6, from which the mixture of vapours and gases flows out through opening 40, and the concentrated liquor is withdrawn through pipe 43. Fuel gas and compressed air are supplied to burner 2 through lines 17 and 18 respectively; and a flame is produced at plate 15. The hot gases flow through refractory-lined chamber 1 and enter the converging end of member 5 through passageway 23A. The rate of feed of the liquid and the flow of fuel gas may be controlled by a temperature-sensing device in the diverging portion of the member 5. A device is also described in which the annular chamber 25 is adjoined by a chamber through which cooling gas may be passed into the converging end of member 5.
