Each bolt 1, 2 of a vertical conveyer for raising or lowering loose material 9 is provided with a layer 3, 4 of foamed plastics or rubber. The layers have flange portions 5, Fig. 1 (not shown), and when the belts enter the vertical run the flanges are compressed such that joints 7 between the flanges are substantially coplanar with the joint 8 between the foam layers, Fig. 2 (not shown). When the conveyer is loaded, escape of the material 9 is prevented by pressure at the joints 7. Rollers (not shown) press the belts 1, 2 toward each other.</p> |
