<p>A tire building drum (5) comprising a rotatable drum having a center section (20, 22a, 22b) and a first and second shoulder section (29) is disclosed. The center section (20, 22a, 22b) is radially expandable and has no center sleeve. The center section (20, 22a, 22b) has a first and second end, wherein the first and second end each has a shoulder.
