<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium conveying mechanism that equally holds and conveys a recording medium to be conveyed regardless of size or thickness of the recording medium, and a recording medium processing device. <P>SOLUTION: A compression coil spring 38 energizing the rotary shaft 36 to the rotary shaft 34 side of a lower conveying roller 28 is provided on the rotary shaft 36 of an upper conveying roller 27 that holds and conveys the recording medium P together with the lower conveying roller 28. The end of the rotary shaft 36 is connected to freely tilt by a joint 50.
