<p>The present invention provides an apparatus for processing an image of a thick steel plate using a shadow. The apparatus includes: a shadow detection unit which detects a shadow of the thick plate made by cross light by binarizing the image of the thick steel plate based on a pixel value of the shade included in the image of the thick steel plate; a thick steel plate detection unit which detects a background, which is made by the thick steel plate and the cross light and is joined with thick steel plate, by binarizing the image of the thick steel plate based on a pixel value of the thick steel plate included in the image of the thick plate; and an image process unit which separates the detected thick steel plate from the detected background by using the detected shadow. The shadow detection unit includes: a first binarization unit which binarizes an odd row image and an even row image of the image of the thick steel plate with a first threshold value based on the pixel value of the shadow included in the image of the steel thick plate; and a first thick steel plate image generation unit that generates a first thick plate image which includes the shadow and is binarized by taking an absolute value of difference between an odd row image binarized with the first threshold value and an odd row image binarized with the first threshold value. Therefore, the apparatus can accurately detect a boundary of the thick steel plate.</p> |
