A tie formed of resilient flexible material, e.g. synthetic plastics material or rubber, comprises a strip-like portion 1 and a wider portion 2 at one end of the strip-like portion, the portion 2 having an open-sided groove 3 of T-shaped cross-section such that for fastening the tie the strip-like portion 1 can be drawn through the groove and is held in the wider part of the groove when the tie is in use, and for loosening the tie the strip-like portion 1 can be pulled laterally out of the groove, with teeth 10 provided in a row on one side of the strip-like portion and teeth 101 provided in a row on the bottom of the groove, the arrangement being such that when the tie is fastened some of the teeth 10 engage some of the teeth 10<SP>1</SP>, and is characterised in that the strip-like portion is provided with a handling part 14 having an aperture into which the wider portion 2 is pushed so that the handling part extends across the strip-like portion at the ends of the groove 3 and provides additional security against inadvertent pulling of the strip-like portion out of the groove when the tie is in the fastened position. In the embodiments shown the handling part is a ring 14 which is held in position around the part 2 by beads 6 and 7 when the tie is fastened. A wire 16, Fig. 4, and lead seal 17 are fastened through a bore 18 in the part 2 to prevent unauthorised removal of the ring 14. In a second embodiment, Fig. 7, straps 20 carrying plugs 19 are formed on the ring 14, and when the latter is in position around the part 2 the plugs 19 are pushed into holes 23 in the part 2 and retained therein by interengaging shoulders 21, 22. Removal of the ring is thus only possible by cutting the straps 20.</p> |
